Aug 06, · My wife has an iX in her car, autolearn for her is also a must. She previously ran a ix. Basically, it does everything better than the ix. To tell you the truth, I can't believe they squeezed additional range out of the this m4 horn in comparison to the ix, but somehow Escort . Mar 13, · Found a cop with his radar left on so I decided to go back by twice and film it to give a little demo for the Escort Passport ix. Thanks for all the comments and interest in the video! I hope. When it was introduced in the Escort Passport ix was the first GPS-enabled model. Satellite technology allowed the detector to warn of red light cameras and lock out static sources of false alarms like automatic door openers. Escort has replaced the ix with two models higher in performance and with more a08.me: Radartest Staff.
Red light cameras are all over Dallas, and it warns me prior to approaching one. I definitely recommend buying the ix. Hope this review helps! I find the constant engine static while on alert along with constant laser falsing makes it unusable.
If bands have to be shut off, why have one. The previous Beltronics RX 65 worked flawlessly. Great idea but poor technology compared to units that completely work out of the box. I owned a Beltronics RX65, and my experience was not even close to yours. That piece of junk had so many false alerts I threw it into the back seat after a year of use in frustration.
I dumped it on eBay for some other Beltronics fanboy. I think you are 1 i possession of a defective unit or 2 a Beltronics employee. I have owned two Beltronics radar detectors, and both were poor. I prefer a dash mounted unit to beable to change to my other vehicles. For laser you need to have a laser jammer, not a radar detector. Check out the Blinder and the LI under the laser jammer tab.
It the laser alert goes off and there are no cars between your car and the laser, your car has been painted and measured. My previous comments were from a Goldwing. I believe I have a bad unit but the bigger issue is their Tech Support will not stand behind an obvious problematic issue as they did in my case. To bad, live with it. Herb that is strange as the ix is built on pretty much the same platform as the RX65 other than it has a GPS.
I would have to guess operator error here as one has to be technically proficient enough to hook up an download the new databases. Any chance you bought this on Ebay, used, or from some other source other than an Authorized Seller?
The second was a open box unit from a large retail store. Both instances I thought the unit was representative of the model and would have never known that I had been misled by a bad unit if it had not been for someone I knew having the same unit and allowing me to borrow and compare. Even if you did buy from a good seller, in the world of electronics we can never completely filter out defects. I would suggest a capacitor and secondary battery to supply power for any sensitive electronics on a bike because of the nature of their electrical systems.
We have have seen several cases were detectors were sold as new on Ebay when infact they were refurbished units from either Mexico or China. Thanks to radarroy and his skills I bought this Hulk of hi-tech machine. Hey radar roy, i just purchased a used escort passport i. Ross, you bought a radar detector, not a cop car detector. Radar detectors do only 1 thing, detect police radar when it is activated and turned on.
Not all police cars have police radar guns in them. The problem is the snake-like manner that Escort misleads its retailers and the consumers. Their methods are purely underhanded and fully un-ethical. Tech Test — Popular Mechanics. Any properly sized one works just fine. I used the one from my digital camera. Can their database be installed on the ix?
No, the ix has a proprietary database, however you could do it by hand through their radar detector tools program. Well 1st thing you would need is a motorcycle mount, then a direct wire cord. As the HARD systems are out of production right now you would have to go with either earphone jack or hope that you could hear it.
I also have a x50 that i had sent in to get updated. The ix did weed out the X alerts but i lacked picking up the ka and the k by like 4 seconds behind the x Is there a way to turn up the sensitivity on the ix if i was to go get it agian?
Matt, you NEVER put two detectors within close proximity of each other, they will interfere with each other and would reduce the sensitivity of each other. One in a car in close proximity could have an effect on a radar detector. The harmonics from the unit could be seen as a false alert and the detector will reduce its sensitivity.
The x50, the RX65, the GX65 and the ix all use the same platform so the range and performance are the same. Great device with excellent features. I for one like the speed display and the false alert learning and storing capabilities. I got a quarter mile warning one time and could not even see the cops, so it had to be scatter. The detector so far seems to work better then i was expecting. The cost was more than i wanted to spend but in two weeks i have already avoided 2 maybe three tickets.
I know in the review you mention to only buy from an authorized dealer and the link you have to buy it goes to radarbusters. First of all, as an experience radar detector user I have to say the ix makes me ask one phillosophical question: When the gods created this device, were they aware I would have one, and is it alright with them? Literally the only possible improvement would be if the cops all texted their coordinates to me along my route.
To all you people who think buying a used one or buy one from an unauthorized dealer, how much money could you possibly be saving? Just keep paying your tickets, just rack up points on your licence, and drve slow. We went for a drive, side by side, and my ix alerted me to radar hits every time.
I was alerted to 4 radar hits in our mile pleasure cruise, his alerted 0 times. He returned it that day and bought a ix. Let me put it this way, if you have been falsely accused of murder, are you calling the bargain lawyer and using a coupon?
Or are you hiring the best lawyer money can buy to keep your freedom? Stop reading and buy one already! A great piece, now I need a laser jammer. The ix has GPS so it will need to see the sky, so as long as it can, yes, you can mount it in the same location. Well here is the reason. Pa only allows their State Police to use radar. Therefore the city and county cops rely on Vascar visual devices that do not emit radar.
A radar detector does one thing, detect police radar, not police cars…. Got a ticket doing 68 in a 55 zone. The deputy young punk came up to the my vehicle and asked for my license and insurance and got my ticket.
Believe me if you have a lead foot you need the ix its alot cheaper than paying tickets and insurance rates. Have figured out a few things about the radar. What gets you a ticket is the cops have instant on radars. When it picks up a cars movement it turns itself on then back off.
You have to keep vehicles ahead off you to defeat this. Found out about this going through a road check late one night. State police car seating there and soon as i got into sight of the police car my radar went haywire. The state guy laughed at me. Said i have to have people ahead of me for it to work right.
Cop said he could go to his car and see how fast I was going when I about flipped my car over trying to brake. I believe it has better bsm filtering too, someone correct me if I am wrong please. And if they really do come out with an update for bsm filtering I think it would be the better investment. Also it would be less money.
I know there's one that's only 8 months old, is like brand new, and only used in a fun car that only comes out to play when it's nice out. It will be going up for sale in a couple of weeks. I would try to get a late model Max II due to some issues they had. Well I have an IX ordered for him but he has my redline ex as a loaner until it gets here so I can go ahead and sell his ix.
He seems to really like the ex so who knows he may keep that and I'll re sell the IX. If he doesn't the ex is getting returned anyways. You must log in or register to reply here.
